Poelking Bowling Centers
Poelking Bowling Centers, a family-owned business with three locations in the Dayton, Ohio area, needed a fresh and mobile-optimized web presence to showcase each center’s unique offerings. The goal was to improve usability, promote events and amenities, and unify the digital brand while maintaining individual location identities. The challenge was creating a responsive experience that made it easy for customers to explore, reserve, and engage from any device.
My Role:
I led the visual and layout design for the new website. My work included homepage design, content organization, visual branding consistency across locations, and UI/UX structure that made navigation intuitive. I also supported content placement and design alignment for promotional elements, hours of operation, and interactive sections.
Process:
Each center Poelking Woodman, Poelking Lanes South, and Poelking on Wilmington was designed with consistent brand elements but color-coded accents to reflect individual location identities (red, green, and yellow themes respectively). High-priority sections such as “Special Packages,” “Events/Activities,” and “Food & Beverages” were given prominent image tiles for quick access.

I used full-width headers, bright CTA buttons, and a clear typographic hierarchy to ensure mobile visitors could scan quickly and find what they needed; whether checking hours, booking a lane, or planning a party. Every page was optimized for legibility, clarity, and ease of use.
Results or Reflection:
The final mobile site offers a clean, friendly, and informative experience that matches Poelking’s brand: “Always Clean. Always Friendly. Always Fun!” Users can now navigate with ease, explore attractions by location, and engage more directly with the centers. This project reaffirmed how essential mobile design is for local, experience-based businesses and how thoughtful organization can turn a busy site into a streamlined, story-driven experience.
