Think Differently – Pole Banner

Fairmont High School needed a set of outdoor pole banners to visually reinforce its “Think Differently” campaign. The goal was to highlight student pride and communicate the school’s mission of real-world readiness to parents, students, and visitors across campus. The challenge was to design something bold and readable from a distance while staying true to the brand's visual identity.

My Role:

I led the visual concept and layout design. I also coordinated the imagery to ensure a diverse, student-centered focus that supported the broader communications strategy for the school district.

Process:

  • Imagery: Selected a photo of an actual student to reflect authenticity, approachability, and school spirit.

  • Typography: Chose large, clear, high-contrast fonts for legibility from a distance.

  • Color Strategy: Used Fairmont’s navy and white color palette with the Think Differently yellow sunburst accent.

  • Layout: Designed one banner for visual storytelling (“Discovering How Real World Works”) and another as an identity anchor featuring the school name and student portrait.

  • Branding: Included the Think Differently tagline to reinforce campaign consistency across platforms.

Results or Reflection:
The banners elevated the campus environment by aligning physical spaces with the school’s messaging goals. They created visual interest for visitors and reinforced school pride for students and staff. The project demonstrated how thoughtful visual communication can extend a brand experience beyond screens and into real-life moments of connection.
